William Saliba is not a new signing for Arsenal, but he certainly acts like one nonetheless.
The Gunners actually signed the towering French defender in the summer of 2019, during the reign of Unai Emery from north London.
However, it’s only now that Saliba has been a regular part of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal squad, beginning all three of his Premier League outings this season – his only appearances in this competition so far.
And he’s proving to be a revelation, not just in defense but also at the other end of the pitch after his stunner at Bournemouth last Saturday night.
However, the France international showed up for Arsenal training in a genuine new signing on Wednesday.
There are images that go around social media of Fabio Vieira scoring an excellent goal at London Colney.
In the video, the Portuguese maestro displays a brilliant round of rhythm that leaves Saliba for good, before smashing.
Yes it is only a training ground goal and little emphasis should be placed on finishing, however brilliant it was.
But it was pretty exciting to watch Vieira make Saliba look like an average centre-back when everyone knows right now that he is anything but.
Vieira, who joined Arsenal from Porto in the summer, has yet to make a competitive appearance under Arteta due to injury.
But a start for the North Londoners is only a matter of time and if he is as sharp as he is in training, Premier League defenses will be concerned.
