Due to the lack of promotion of the film by Sony and Marvel Studios, a few US movie chains have chosen to use fan-made posters to promote the upcoming Spider-Man: No Path Home. The film is only five months away, but there has been virtually no news or promotional material released by the film. As a result, movie channels Cinepalace and Westown Movies used fake posters, which depict a lot of spoilers and unconfirmed characters interacting with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. Obviously these posters are fake, but it shows how much awaited this movie is for fans.

the Spider Man the posters in question both feature Doctor Strange’s signature portals that seemingly bring Spider-Man in and out of different realities. This is a legitimate attempt as it has been confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch will appear as Doctor Strange in the film. However, one of the posters goes much further by including the incarnations of the character of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield along with their names. It was a huge giveaway as neither Maguire nor Garfield have been confirmed to appear in the film in any way. In fact, Garfield insisted he wasn’t in the movie (which, of course, only gave fans more speculation).
This is what happened: a cinema printed my tribute poster for âNo Way Homeâ and displayed it to promote the film.

The poster used by Westown Movies was created by artist Nuno Sarnadas / Dark Design in February of this year. Sarnadas posted a photo of the poster on Twitter, reacting to the silliness of the whole situation. Apparently the theater was using his poster without his consent – as well as without Sony’s consent – but Sarnadas didn’t seem too upset. The posters created by Sarnadas are extremely impressive and can certainly be confused with those made in the studio. You have to give the theaters credit for trying.
Marvel fans are clamoring for a Spider-Man: No Path Home trailer / poster combo for months now, but Sony has yet to deliver. There have been countless rumors and fan theories about the film that are potentially very exciting, and fans just want material to catch their anticipation. Rumors like Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprising their roles as Spider-Man have been plentiful. Others like Charlie Cox as Daredevil or Willem Dafoe as Green Goblin and many others have spread across the internet like wildfire. The fans are obviously excited and the theaters are just going with the flow. We’ll keep you posted when Sony finally decides to release a poster or images.
Spider-Man: No Path Home will be the third Spider Man movie set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It will star Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man, Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Jamie Foxx as Electro (in retaliation for his role in The Incredible Spider-Man 2), Alfred Molina in the role of Doctor Octopus (in retaliation for his role in Spider-man 2), and JK Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson. It will only be released in theaters on December 17, 2021.
