Launched Splitgate in version 1.0, but feature development will stop focusing on a new project

Fans of Splitgate, the multiplayer sci-fi portal shooter, received some bittersweet news today. Developer 1047 Games has announced that it’s finally pulling the game out of its long beta and launching it in 1.0 next month. He also revealed plans to set another title in the Splitgate universe. But to facilitate the work on this next project, it will be necessary to cease the development of Splitgate functionalities.

1047 explains in a press release that they are developing a new shooter in Unreal Engine 5 set in the world of Splitgate, which means it will also feature portals. There are no further details beyond that, but it will be the team’s full-time project going forward.

As such, 1047 launches Splitgate out of beta on September 15, but it will move away from creating substantial content thereafter. However, the team assures fans that Splitgate will remain online. The launch of the game will launch a new season, which includes a new free battle pass featuring an infinite number of levels as well as new characters, skins and other goodies. Splitgate’s weekly featured playlists and article drops will continue, and the team will continue to work on smaller fixes and updates.
