BENIN CITY – The Edo State Government, in partnership with Udacity, a global online education platform, has launched the EdoWorX program to train the next generation of digital work professionals to harness the opportunities of the ‘Digital Economy.
Through this partnership, more than 800 women will receive training in in-demand technology skills, including web development, data analytics and digital marketing.
The EdoWorX program is managed by the Edo State Skills Development Agency (EdoJobs).
According to the Managing Director of EdoJobs, Ms. Ukinebo Dare: “As part of His Excellency, Governor Godwin Obaseki’s continued efforts to create an enabling environment for young people in Edo State, the State Government of Edo through the Edo State Skills Development Agency (Edojobs) in partnership with Udacity, a global online technology education platform, launched the EdoWorX program. It is a technology development initiative aimed at creating the next generation of digital work professionals in key digital fields and enabling young people to exploit the opportunities available inside and outside the Edo State.
“The EdoWorx initiative provides scholarships to train women in Edo State in in-demand technology skills in the following areas such as web development, data analytics, and digital marketing. This free program is sponsored by the Edo State Government and the World Bank, and powered by EdoJobs in partnership with Udacity, for all women in the state to learn and boost their careers in technology.
“The launch of the program is in line with Governor Obaseki’s agenda to equip and prepare the workforce of Edo State for digital jobs through an online marketplace,” she added.
The Managing Director further stated, “Today officially marks the virtual onboarding of 800 women into the EdoWorx program after successfully completing the registration and assessment processes.
“This first batch of interns will begin their learning journey on the Udacity Learning Management System (LMS) in their chosen areas, such as Web Development, Data Analytics, and Digital Marketing. “
“This is great news for all women residing in Edo State who are passionate about starting a career in one of the best tech fields in the world, as registration is still ongoing. so that anyone interested can apply,” Dare noted.
She added: “This exciting and potentially groundbreaking free program provides recipients with specialized hands-on technical training, career and freelance coaching, access to post-graduation online jobs, a community of experts and globally recognized certifications. Classes are delivered online and can be taken at your own pace when and where it suits you.
