The International Cricket Council (ICC) has partnered with Cricket West Indies (CWI) to launch the ICC Global Training and Education Programme.
The Basic Certificate program was developed specifically for coaches in the entry-level stages of the game.
It is also aimed at coaches who want to use the training resources as a platform to gain further accreditation.
The course is delivered entirely online and allows participants to explore a range of modules at their own pace focusing on the basics of the game, safety and inclusion, participants, the role of the coach.
It also teaches coaches how to create effective and enjoyable match day training environments.
CWI Coach Development Manager Chris Brabazon said the course represents an “important step” towards their goal of making more coaching development opportunities available to coaches and volunteers in the region.
“The timing of this course going live will allow us to strengthen and prepare our network of coaches for the relaunch of our grassroots cricket programs across the region. This certificate is also the stepping stone for coaches to continue and participate in one of our face-to-face CWI Level 1 Competition Coaching Courses,” said Brabazon.
“The ICC has been fantastic working with us as we developed the structure and content of the accreditation and then using their resources to put the certificate online has been a huge boost not just for us but for many other member countries,” he added. .
