Camp Overview: Day 12

JACKSONVILLE– The program has changed, the place too.

The intensity remained high, however – the Jaguars working out for around two hours Monday night during a live practice on Day 12 of the 2022 training camp.

It was the first night practice of the 22 camp, and the first at TIAA Bank Field – with head coach Doug Pederson who was asked shortly before practice Monday if he had changed the routine and site just to “kind of break things up”.

“You hit that one on the head,” Pederson said.

The practice, which took place from 6:30 p.m. to just after 8:30 p.m., took place in what started with temperatures of 86 degrees and dropped pleasantly throughout the practice. The session included seven-on-seven, running, team and live hitting periods.

The evening also featured two key players who are closing in on their return:

  • Running back James Robinson, who suffered an Achilles injury last December, took part in 7-on-7 drills – but remained out of contact. Pederson said Robinson will stay out of contract drills this week. “He’s fine,” Pederson said. “That’s the goal, to make it progress in the next few days.”
  • Rookie linebacker Devin Lloyd, who has been out since training camp with a hamstring issue, also practiced while remaining non-contact. Pederson didn’t rule out Lloyd playing the Pittsburgh Steelers in a preseason 2 game Saturday at TIAA Bank Field.

“Hopefully we’ll see more of it in the next few days,” Pederson said.

Pederson’s availability coverage can be viewed on jaguars.com and the Jaguars Media Channels.

Pederson reiterated on Monday what he said last week – that he felt the Jaguars’ front row players played well in a 24-13 Week 1 preseason loss to the Browns of Cleveland Friday. He also said he expects starters and front row players to play a lot on Saturday.

“They’ll have another one, hopefully a little longer, in this next game,” Pederson said. “Our defensive starters haven’t played a ton in the first two games. They’ve done well. They just haven’t played a lot. I want to see them play a bit more in this game – same with offense .

“We just want to start seeing consistency with these two units.”

The Jaguars practiced at the Episcopal School at Jacksonville Knight Sports Campus for the first 11 days of Camp 22 and are scheduled to practice there Wednesday after a scheduled day off Tuesday.
